Experience a powerful journey through Classical-era masterworks, highlighted by a radiant solo performance from BSO’s own horn soloist Aija Mattson-Jovel.

The evening begins with the electrifying Don Giovanni Overture by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, bursting with drama, urgency, and unmistakable flair. From there, Florence Price’s Andante Moderato offers a moment of lyrical warmth and introspection, showcasing her rich, expressive voice through the lush sound of the string orchestra.

Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 in E-flat major, one of the most beloved works in the horn repertoire, takes center stage with Aija Mattson-Jovel as soloist. Graceful, playful, and full of character, the concerto highlights the horn’s noble lyricism and sparkling agility.

The program concludes with Joseph Haydn’s triumphant Symphony No. 104, “London,” a joyful and spirited finale that reflects the wit, brilliance, and grandeur of Haydn at the height of his powers.

From dramatic overture to soaring solo lines and symphonic celebration, this concert offers a vibrant exploration of classical favorites — brought to life by the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra.
