Sarah Ward
Music Librarian
Sarah is a Bakersfield-native cellist with 17 years of study and experience performing in orchestras and chamber ensembles, with occasional appearances in the recording studio and musical theater. She performed with the Bakersfield Youth Symphony Orchestra for five years and toured with the ensemble to England and Scotland in 2015. Sarah has studied with multiple instructors, including both current and former members of the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra.
She holds a BM and MM in Cello Performance from Azusa Pacific University. During her undergraduate years, she served as the music librarian for the Bel Canto Women’s Choir, and while completing her master’s degree, she was the librarian for the APU Studio Orchestra.
Sarah now serves as the Music Librarian for the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra. She also teaches private lessons and performs as a member of the San Luis Obispo Symphony’s cello section.

“I grew up in a very musical family. My dad, Mark Howard, and my husband Tucker Ward both teach music in PBVUSD. My brothers are brass players, and my mom is a pianist.”
