Meet Aija Mattson-Jovel
Aija Mattson-Jovel is an active freelance musician and educator based in the Los Angeles area. She has performed as a French horn player with numerous orchestras across Southern California, including the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Opera, Pacific Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, Bakersfield Symphony, and Long Beach Symphony, among others. She currently serves as Principal Horn of the Bakersfield Symphony.
An active studio musician, Aija has performed and recorded on a wide range of jazz, pop, and film score projects in Los Angeles, collaborating with composers such as Michael Giacchino, David Newman, and Jeff Russo. She is also an active chamber musician and educator, regularly performing and teaching with the Oakwood Outreach Brass Project, bringing music education to schools throughout the Pasadena Unified School District. Aija also maintains a private studio of horn students across Southern California.
