Nicole Barnett,
Violin II
How old were you when you started playing your instrument?
“I started learning the violin when I was 10 and went on to perform in the Kern County Honor Orchestra, PBVUSD Strolling Strings, Solo/Ensemble Festival, and the Bakersfield Youth Symphony Orchestra.”
Besides the Bakersfield Symphony, what else do you do for a living?
“I am an accountant and payroll clerk for a local office technology company. Math and music, the magic combo!”
What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO?
“My childhood dream was to be a violinist in the BSO and to follow my late grandmother’s footsteps. It is an honor to be part of this local legacy and to perform beloved music with such talented friends.”
What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician?
“Having my chair sponsored would be symbolic of the value that our community places on securing the longevity of live orchestral music in Bakersfield. It would be an honor that a community member wants to make a financial commemoration of their love of classical music.”
