How old were you when you started playing your instrument?
“7th grade.”
Besides the Bakersfield Symphony, what else do you do for a living?
“I am also Principal Tuba in the Santa Barbara Symphony and a freelance performer throughout California. I've performed with the LA Phil, Baltimore, North Carolina, and San Diego Symphonies, and the LA Chamber Orchestra. I am on faculty at the California Institute of the Arts.”
What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO?
“I most enjoy the special camaraderie among the musicians, getting to work with our brilliant Maestro Kirov, and developing a connection to the Bakersfield community.”
What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician?
“Sponsorship of my chair would affirm the value of our music to the community and deepen the connection between musicians and supporters who make our work possible. I would feel truly grateful and inspired.”
Fun Facts
“Aside from music, my other great passion is in native plant gardening and ecology. I love learning about California's unique, diverse ecosystems and working to create a thriving, sustainable habitat in my own garden in Ventura.”
