How old were you when you started playing your instrument?

“I started playing the trumpet in the 4th grade at Palm Avenue School in Wasco.”

Besides the Bakersfield Symphony, what else do you do for a living?

“I am an active performer and composer with over 100 recordings, and I am a full-time Professor of Music at Bakersfield College, where I direct the Jazz Studies program and teach Applied Trumpet.”

What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO? 

“I love to see the community come out to support great musical performances, and I always look forward to the interaction with friends and colleagues in the orchestra.”

What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician? 

“Community support is essential to keep the BSO moving forward, and as an active member of the local music and music education community, that support would mean a great deal to me.”
