How old were you when you started playing your instrument?

“I started in 5th grade with my dad as the teacher.”

Besides the Bakersfield Symphony, what else do you do for a living?

“I teach High School music (choir, hand bells, concert band, symphony), direct the Sequoia Youth Orchestras, and play with the Sequoia Symphony.”

What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO? 

“It feels very much like a family, and while it has changed over the years, it still feels very much like it is a part of the community.”

What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring musician? 

“I love getting to see people I know in the audience (I play with more passion), and would love to say "Hi!" to them every concert.”

Fun Facts

“I have never bought my own instrument - when ever the need has arisen as an answer to prayer, an instrument has fallen in to my lap.”
