How old were you when you started playing your instrument?

“I was 8 years old when I started to play the 'cello: my best friend's father was a professional 'cellist, and I fell in love with the sound of the 'cello when we played at his apartment.”

Besides the Bakersfield Symphony, what else do you do for a living?

“I am part of the "Freeway Philharmonic": performing with a different orchestra each week: Santa Rosa, Monterey, Sacramento, Stockton, etc. I am also co-artistic director of Musica Viva, an organization that offers free chamber music concerts throughout California.”

What do you enjoy most about playing with the BSO? 

“Experiencing the rapidly improving quality of the orchestral musicians and the camaraderie.”

What would it mean to you if someone were to sponsor your chair? 

“Personalized relation to patrons and supporters of the BSO, improved long-term stability of the orchestra.”

Fun Facts

“I came to the U.S. to study with David Soyer (Guarneri Quartet) and fell in love with Susan (my wife of more than 32 years) and this country. My hobbies are reading, hiking, traveling, and trying to explore the world us.”
