Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra

BSO Next started in 2014 as a donor-based endeavor that allows students from all over Kern County to experience live symphonic music. BSO Next brings students to the symphony not only to hear a concert, but for an entire evening of art, culture, and education in hopes of inspiring students to dream bigger and discover their own untapped potential. Students have the option of starting the evening with a tour of the local Bakersfield College or California State University, Bakersfield campus; they then are provided dinner, a special pre-concert talk geared toward young people, and of course, the concert itself.

With the pandemic continuing into our 2020-2021 concert season, BSO Next (like our concerts themselves) will look a little different. Until we are able to have live audiences attend our concerts, we will be streaming all performances online. Teachers may request a free code for their students to use through the BSO Next program, allowing music students to have access to the performance free of charge. There will also be materials to go along with each performance, which teachers may wish to assign as part of their distance learning curriculum.
