The YPCs are a 45 minute program for the students who are brought in by the different schools as an introduction to not only the orchestra but also the vast world opened to the children. This program helps fulfill requirements outlined in Common Core. Call the BSO office for your reservation.

Join us for the season finale for BSO’s 84th season with a concert titled, Love and War featuring violinist Simone Porter. At 18 years of age, Simone Porter has already appeared with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Symphony Orchestra of both Nashville and Utah.

Join us for the 5th concert of BSO’s 84th season as we give tribute to our Veterans. Intriguing war photography by Multimedia Artist, Nicholas Bardonnay from Westwater Arts will be displayed as the orchestra sounds off tribute to those who protect our great country. There will be a 20% discount given to veterans, along with their families, with a valid military ID.

BSO NEXT is a donor-based endeavor that provides concert tickets to our season performances, a pre-concert meet and greet with the conductor and musicians, and a snack to local students. Our hope is that such exposure will inspire future musicians and concert-goers and provide the next generation with a powerful introduction to the world of music. Hundreds of tickets were distributed for the Fall 2015 concerts and more students attended than ever before. These students have created a palpable vibe of youth and excitement to the audience and the response to the program has been overwhelmingly positive from the students as well as regular concert patrons.  We received considerable feedback from schools and groups whose students were appreciative and inspired by the experience of attending a live concert.

“My students cannot stop talking about the performance and have been proudly showing off their autographed programs” -Dan Hernandez, Music Director at Paul L. Cato Middle School in Bakersfield, CA

There is more demand for BSO NEXT tickets than funded. This means there are more schools, teachers, parents, and students desiring to be a part of this program than available tickets due to insufficient funding. We invite you to participate in this rare giving opportunity which allows you to directly invest in our local youth, observe the results for yourself, and connect the next generation to the BSO experience. For more information or to become a sponsor, please email Cynthia Smizer at cynthia@bsonow.org.
