Holly Arnold has joined The Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra as the Executive Director. In her new position, Holly looks forward to working with Music Director Stilian Kirov to enhance concert experiences as well as strengthening the youth outreach through education programs and collaborations. Holly has experience in non-profit organization as the former CEO of the Kern Chapter of the American Red Cross and most recently held the position of director of community relations, working with former Mayor Harvey Hall at Hall Ambulance Service.
Orchestra Operations Manager
Mary Moore joined the BSO as the Principal Clarinetist in the fall of 1959 and has never missed a concert since. In 2000, she became the Orchestra Operations Manager. Mary is a native to Bakersfield and attended Bakersfield High School and Cal State. When not at the BSO, Mary plays tennis and formed the Bakersfield Classicus Clarinet Quartet which performs locally. She is also a member of the summer Beale Band, the Bakersfield Winds, and attends the Humbolt Chamber Workshop annually. Mary is the mother of three children, four grand children and 3 great grand children.
Patron Services Manager and Community Outreach
Gabriel Adame was born and raised in Bakersfield. He has received his Business degree in Marketing from California State University Bakersfield. Gabriel has a strong background in sales and marketing, and joined the BSO in June of 2017.
Director of Education Outreach and Grant Management
Kendra earned her BA in Music Education and most recently has been a music teacher with the Panama Buena Vista School District, teaching TK and 3rd – 6th grade general music, as well as 5th and 6th grade chorus, band and orchestra at Buena Vista Elementary School. Kendra is currently a member of Kern County Music Educators Association and plays flute in Bakersfield Winds and Wind Symphony of Clovis. As the first Director of Education Outreach at the BSO, Kendra hopes to organize, solidify, and grow the partnerships the symphony holds with local schools and businesses as we work together to bring young people the gift of music.
Dr. Scott Dirkse
Scott Dirkse received his PhD in musicology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, an M.M. in piano pedagogy from the University of South Carolina, and a B.A. in piano performance from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Scott is recognized as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music by the Music Teachers National Association and is a recipient of the UCSB Excellence in Teaching Award. He has presented at the national conferences for the College Music Society, the Music Teachers National Association, the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, and Teaching Music History Conferences, and he has had his work published in Clavier Companion, American Music Teacher, the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy, and the Journal of Music History Pedagogy. Scott currently teaches music at Bakersfield College (along with a few piano lessons on the side).
